Thread: Dropbox Folder Icons in Sidebar

Default Dropbox Folder Icons in Sidebar

This may just be a minor bug, but if I put a folder from within Dropbox on the Pathfinder sidebar, it doesn't show the correct folder icon (a nice blue folder) - instead it shows a generic 'file' icon (the white paper with the dog-eared corner).

This may be due to Dropbox adding it's own 'tick' or 'update' icon over the top of the standard blue folder icons. Regardless, I thought I'd add this rather dull suggestion as something that may be fixed for a future release (or see if anyone has a solution).

    Default and more importantly

PF support for the checkmark and "still synching" badges that DropBox uses in the Finder is very important, since I need to have some indication as to whether the file is currently synching or not. I have to drop back to the Finder to look at my DropBox folder currently.

I indeed saw this behavior for quite some time. It affects all folders placed in the Sidebar which have a customized icon (Icon invisible file in the folder).

I seems that the icon is sometimes shown, for example just after being added, but restarting the app or the Mac makes the custom icon disappear.

I think that the "status icon" of Dropbox is a bit different, being dynamic, but i'm not sure how Dropbox makes it magic. May I suggest looking at the DropBox icon on the menu bar, instead of using the Finder ?

Yes I confirm, I have the same problem. All my project folders in sidebar have customs icons that show their current status. But, sometimes, randomly, PF replaces them with the generic file icon. I have to remove and recreate them... Pretty annoying.

    Any solution?
