When I tried doing this in PF with the rename feature it only renamed the first file, not subsequent ones.
I like to use this feature to rename multiple files of video footage from the same event.
Seems like a very obvious feature...

How to copy permissions from one folder to another?

I have some PostgreSQL database folders that have some bizarre permissions attached. I could make the permissions be exactly what I needed them to be...

I have some PostgreSQL database folders that have some bizarre permissions attached. I could make the permissions be exactly what I needed them to be in Tiger, but I just upgraded to Snow Leopard, and everything is weird and different. The permissions I need to apply are are "_unknown" (Read & Write) and "everyone" (No Access).

I suspect that if there's any app that might let me just copy the permissions from one folder and apply them to another folder, it's Pathfinder. However, I've just now downloaded and installed v5.6.6, and it's not immediately apparent how to copy permissions (assuming it's possible), and the Help documentation isn't much help. (Searches for "copy permissions" and its variants were fruitless.)

Oh...the folders in question are normally "No Access", meaning the contents can't be viewed. I can add myself with read/write permissions, and then Snow Leopard will let me revert the folder permissions after I've added the stuff I want to the folders, but then the child folders won't have the right "No Access" permissions after I revert the parent folder. There's no way to force the reverted permissions downward on the enclosed items after I revert them.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide.

I recently downloaded gfxCardStatus and discovered that Pathfinder causes the GPU to change from the built-in Intel chip set to the Nvidia 330M. Why would that be? It negatively affects battery life and it doesn't seem necessary for PF to need that level of graphics support. Is this a feature that can be turned off in Prefs?

Dear all,

i'm a new path finder user and i'm very happy of this piece of software. As a new User i have a few questions to ask, please be patient if that are stupid.

Consider that i have substituted finder desktop and icons with path finder one

1) is it possible to change icons and modify their dimension?
2) is it possible to change the display character of the desktop icons?
3) is it possible to align icons on the desktop to a immaginar grid?
4) I followed discussion about copy/merge problem and i voted the feature in the section dedicated to, is there a workaround, such as another dedicated software (if possible free, till path finder do it itself) to do that?

thank you a lot

Hello forum

In Finder, when i click my shared NAS, the finder simply displays all of the shared folders from that NAS right away (Like "Pictures", "movies" and so on), and lets me click through the folders.

But when i click my NAS from Path Finder, a new window always pops up asking me to "Select the volumes you want to mount on nas01": where i can then select the folder. Then the folder gets "mounted" and shows under Path Finders "Devices" list...

This is quite annoying. Especially if you need to jump in and out of different shared folders. Is there any way to have it use the same behaviour as Apples Finder?

PS: I tried enabling both the Samba and AFP (Apples) protocols, but no luck...

after using Path Finder for a few hours, there are times when it won't refresh the views any longer, and pressing that infamous F5 key is required after almost any alteration of a folder's contents, be it renaming, moving, setting labels, deleting, changing icons...

for instance, when renaming a file with a hidden suffix, the full name is expectedly displayed for editing, but when it's done, pressing the return key doesn't hide the suffix again, it's still showing [even though the hide extension property is checked] until you press F5

now, I'm unable to report what I've done to get Path Finder into such a state, but the only reliable work-around in this case is to relaunch the application

I just bought Path Finder with Paypal, but I had to rethink twice (and have confidence in your honesty) to enter my paypal password.

First, I didn't found any way to buy from your Web site, so I selected "buy" from Path Finder menus. For a Paypal payment, It was a screen inside the dialog box. I understand it should be a WebKit view, but it could be just a fake, and I didn't want to potentially enter my password in any application.
So I saw the link to open in my browser, I clicked it, it launched Safari, in Paypal Web site which is fine, but now... the browser didn't have the lock icon, nor the certificate badge, even if the address was https://www.paypal.com/

I know I'm a little bit paranoid, but I think that some people could be scared to bypass this negative signs.
