Replace Finder with another app

Hi there,

I would like to replace the finder with another app (a kiosk solution). There's an apple TechNote, but it is from 2003. The kiosk program says that the following Unix commands should work in Terminal:
defaults write com.apple.loginwindow Finder /Applications/webXkiosk.app

but that does not seem to work.

Any tips / hints how this could be achieved?
