:(

Can any one tell me how to solve my current finder's problems?

It's like my system has the hiccups. Every minute my finder relaunches...and I don't want to load pathfinder onto an unstable system.

I've tried a number of solutions proposed except for the mysterious advice to reload the OS. (and everyone has a different idea)

It would be great if those who knew the finder best could answer this problem.

Thanks, Dave

PS - It would also be great if you had a forum about Apple's finder...this could draw even more traffic to your site. It was while I was looking for solutions that I found your site.

Have you disabled the Finder's desktop? The Finder will not quit if the desktop has be disabled.

And the answer is... Stuffit !

I asked for help at this site:
www.macsupportexperts.com

They referred me to:
www.turnersystems.com

And Brian (the man) said often when the OS updates...Stuffit does not. AND Stuffit accesses or is tied in with the Finder. So you will need to update Stuffit OR for the time being disable some or all of its features.

What I did:
1) pulled out the preference panes folder (everything...so will need to add back one at at time...later)
2) pulled out the *.plist items related to stuffit.

It worked!
No more hicups!

I had a problem with stuffit (same one), I removed the StuffitCMM.plugin file/folder and relaunched the finder and all was well again. This is actually something I just happened to think about doing because i knew it installed a CMM Plugin.

Oh, and it crashes a lot on burn folders
