I am using PathFinder to replace amost totally the Finder, but one thing that used to annoy me was that every time a disk image file was opened by an application other than PathFinder (e.g. a download post-processed by Speed Download) a new Finder window would pop up to show its content while PathFinder didn't notice about this event, despite I had activated "Open mounted volumes in new window" in the PathFinder browser preferences.
The solution to get rid of this behavior is rather simple and obvious but I had not thought about it until now, therefore someone else could find this tip useful: just associate all files with a .dmg extension to PathFinder in place of the default DiskImageMounter.
You only have to show the Info window for a .dmg file (either with the Finder or PathFinder) and set its "Open with" attribute to "Path Finder", then click the "Change All" button below ...

That's all, from now on every time a dmg file is opened by whatever app (even from the Finder :D) its content will be always showed only in a PathFinder window ... and if you don't want any window showed at all when opening a disk image file just disable "Open mounted volumes in new window" in the PathFinder browser preferences.
