ever since upgrading to 10.4.3, no version of QS has worked for me - this includes stable releases and the latest dev versions. they all launch, eat up massive amounts of memory, and then need to be force quit. i've no idea why, as the only thing that changed from "working" to "not working" was the OS version. just wondering if anybody else has had this issue, and how you resolved it. i've been back and forth on the QS forums as well, but so far, it's still broken.

The latest beta of QS is working fine in 10.4.4 for me. Though I have to admit - I just installed it. This is the first version I have ever installed, and did it after I upgraded to 10.4.4.

Maybe you have a corrupted preference file or something like that that is causing your problem?

yeah, i tried reinstalling, overriding, trashing prefs, everything - can't get it to work.

as long as it works for you, enjoy it, it's great:)

if you haven't already, you might want to try LaunchBar. ;)
(others would say Butler)

here are some introductory screencasts:
LaunchBar - part 1 (http://donmc.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=22684)
LaunchBar - part 3 (http://donmc.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=30940)

LaunchBar is from the creators of Little Snitch (http://donmc.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=40293), btw.

those apps cost something, but i think they're worth it. i'm not affiliated or anything, i just enjoy using them (http://www.cocoatech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1053) - much like path finder. :)

i use butler for other things...but i use QS for more than just launching. LB is great at what it does. but QS does so much more.

not a troll/flame - i used to use LB as well, great app.

I'm used QS with absolutely no problems on 10.4.3 and 10.4.4 as well. Have you tried deleting the QS application support directory and all of your plugins and starting from scratch? You probably have, but it's worth mentioning.

Does this happen even before you've set up any catalog items?

haven't tried the app support - i will now. is this where the plugins are stored, or do i need to delete something else to get rid of those as well?

i've tried nuking the catalog and then re-adding, but QS won't stay stable long enough for this to complete :? I'll try to get rid of that app support folder, though, thanks neilio.

neil - just delete app support (found the plugins there, btw) and everything is running MUCH faster...this is fantastic, after two months (it appears) as though QS is up and running again. excellent!

i hadn't even thought to check there (can't tell you how many times i deleted the .plist, though!) but this seems to have done the trick. thanks!

If you use Quicksilver, always enable "check updates daily" and if you got a paranoid firewall, enable it access to internet.

As usual, if you don't want potential trouble, keep "stable" setting when checking for updates.

BTW it really checks "daily". Doesn't matter how many times you reboot etc.
