The trash is never empty?

I just emptied the trash, but the icon hasn't changed. I checked .Trash, and there was nothing there. Am I missing something?

Mine does change the icon to an empty trash can.
Could you have trash in other volumes that were not emptied?

For fun, I tried the following:
- launch the finder
- click on the Trash in the dock
then the Trash in the dock gets updated to empty.

I do not have any other volume, so I don't think this is the problem.

Oh, and a fun thing, when I quit the finder, the dock Trash icon becomes filled again. Strange ...

Well, I guess it solved itself out. I deleted something else and emptied the Trash, and everything is fine.

(I'll have to check whether the fact that the Finder was running at that time matters...)
