Major FTP limitation

This doesn't seem to support FTP passwords longer than 8 characters. I read that this uses the same FTP that Apple uses, but this limit does not exist in Finder. Finder can log in to FTP accounts with longer names just fine...

So, what am I doing wrong? I tried Path Finder because I knew FTP couldn't possibly be worse than Finder's...

I've tried not having anything in the keychain, I've tried making sure the right password is in keychain... I've tried pasting the long password into the Path Finder dialog box... I'm plumb out of ideas.

We are using Apple's implementation of FTP, which admittedly isn't very good. I would assume (possibly incorrectly) that the Finder should be using the same frameworks that we're using to cook (very) basic FTP functionality into Path Finder.

I haven't use the FTP feature in the Finder before, so give me a little bit to do some testing and I'll see what turns up.
