View Full Version : Trash can

I'm a recent switcher and have been installing all sorts of utilities to improve OS X (Path Finder being one of the premier ones).

I prefer PathFinder's trashcan on the desktop, however, whenever I reboot (I've added Path Finder to the startup items), I have to manually "view the trash can" in the Path Finder preferences. I've looked around the other preferences and (although I may be blind about this one) can't find a setting to display the can by default when booting.

What's the trick?

I forgot to mention: Powerbook G4 with OS X 10.3

If you turn on the visibility of the trash can, it should persist over restarts. I just tested that here and it's working for me - is it possible that you have a permissions problem and the preference file (com.cocoatech.pathfinder.plist) isn't being written to properly?

The file has the right permissions, but I found the problem. I've got Path Finder listed in the startup items list of System preferences but had the "Hide" box checked. Unchecking the box now displays the trash can when restarting the Powerbook.
