I have a Powerbook 12" (mini-VGA) and I am pondering how to make it start up faster. How much faster? Much much faster. It feels like it is taking close to a minute to actually boot (I don't know if it's quite that long, but it feels like it is more than that even..) Does anyone have suggestions for making it boot faster?

Currently I don't start Path Finder on my notebook until I have booted because even though Path Finder 3.1 is so much faster, it still takes several seconds on a G5 (that's not really a complaint about PF's speed since it's not significantly longer to start on my Powerbook..)

Suggestions welcome!

What's the rpm on your drive? I recently replaced the old 4200 rpm drive in my Pismo w/a 7200 rpm drive. Boot time went from about 55 seconds to about 35. It also doubled my effective download speed and made it feel Snappier(tm) across the board.

I suspect it's probably not incredibly fast. It is a notebook after all. I'm not sure the hard drive is considered user-replacable on these machines, but will look tomorrow. I rather like the idea that the machine will be under warranty another two and a half years otherwise.
