View Full Version : 3.1: crash with postscript

For some weird reason, I can't convert a silly PDF screenshot straight to a format such as PNG with Imagemagick (a UNIXy thing), but I can if I convert the PDF to Postscript first. I had one of these PS files laying around and happened to select it (to delete the thing) in Path Finder 3.1.
Path Finder's preview drawer was open at the time, and the program basically froze tight trying to preview it. Killing PF and restarting it fixed the problem, but I'd rather find the cause and correct it so that this doesn't happen again. (I can reproduce with other PS files.)

I have tried this with other ps files, which do display in the preview drawer properly. Could you possibly send me one of the files you had which made PF crash? Either the support or site at cocoatech email address is fine.
Thanks,
Neil

I'm working extensively with PostScript files. When clicked and the Preview Drawer open, Path Finder tries *very hard* to display a preview. And it does -- after a time.
Then, I could cope with that if it was for little files but I seldom go under 100 Mo and I have to crash Path Finder every time I forget to hide the Preview Drawer.
More, I used to trick the Finder by selecting more than one file to avoid preview hiccups but that's a subtle option with Path Finder which displays the preview of the first selected element and not information about the group...
Even more, I often use the bottom info of the Preview Drawer but don't usually care much about the preview itself. So I raised the separator to hide the preview (like with the erratic Finder Preview Arrow) -- to no avail: the preview is calculated.
And last but not least, this "separation raise" is *almost* lost after application relaunch (after a Force Quit) leaving a few pixels in the upper preview aera.
But I love it
