I was using PF, but the Finder kicked in to open something. How can I quit the Finder without having to quit PF and then relaunch PF (which would then, by extension, quit the Finder)?

You can use a program like TinkerTool (http://www.bresink.com/osx/TinkerTool.html) to add a "quit" item to the Finder's application menu as well as the dock icon, which then allows you to quit the Finder. This is what I do, so that applications that absolutely require (or only make calls to) Apple's Finder still work.
Or, if you prefer the terminal, you can run this command from the terminal to add a quit item to the Finder:
defaults write com.apple.finder QuitMenuItem 1
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the TinkerTool suggestion! Worked perfectly. Many thanks. BTW, I'm demoing PF and am trying to find reasons not to switch. So far I haven't found any. Amazing app.

Thanks for the props! If you have any feature suggestions or bug reports, feel free to post here, or email us (see the contact page (http://www.cocoatech.com/contact.php) for emails). If Path Finder doesn't completely meet your needs, let us know what's missing!
If you look at the Changelog page (http://www.cocoatech.com/changelog.php), you'll see we're trying to set a record for the biggest number of changes in a version update*, and so far we've only charged for an upgrade once in the entire lifetime of the application. So chances are if PF doesn't do what you want now, it'll do it soon.
(*I think LemkeSoft's Graphic Converter may have us licked in that department, though!)
Okay, marketing hat is now off. :) Thanks for the feedback.
