Shading of text on desktop bit overdone...

I wonder why you have created such a extreme shadow (offset is big) under text on the desktop. I like the way Apple does it. Of course I can imagine that you want to do things like you think it should be, but why not give the user the chance to choose. Or am I the only one that has a problem with the shading?
