If you have an expanded keyboard (like the Logitech Elite) with keys that you can program to quickly access folders/directories such as "My Music", etc., then you've probably noticed that those are meant to work only with the Apple Finder.
Well, no more. All you need to do is create aliases of those folders somewhere and then use your keyboard's config interface/utility to point your keyboard keys to those aliases (instead of to the actual directories/folders) - basically, the principle is that although the traditional directory names (e.g. ~/Music will not resolve without the Apple Finder active, alias files will resolve under PathFinder).
But there are few things of note - just follow these steps:
- create a folder (wherever is convenient for you) to store your aliases (you can name it "PathFinder Aliases" for ex.).
- create *PathFinder Aliases* (you can do this under the File menu of PathFinder) to the folders/directories you want to use your keyboard keys to acccess, and place them in the above-mentioned folder.
- Launch your keyboard config utility/interface and point program your keys to go to a *document* (not a folder - the PathFinder Aliases are like documents) the above-mentioned aliases.
You're done and happy.
