When I've been in a deeply-nested subfolder, then jump back to a higher-level folder, the Path Navigator still shows the deeper folder I was in. How about an option to automatically truncate the Path Navigator when moving back up to higher folders?
i.e. if I'm in ~/Documents/school/C++/Assignments/Assignment 4, and jump up to ~/Documents, I don't usually need the /school/C++/Assignments/Assignment 4 sub-path hanging around on the Navigator bar & would just as soon it disappeared.
And three suggestions in one day is probably more than enough for anyone.

That's a good suggestion - I'll pass it on to Steve.

This was a very bad suggestion...
Having the Path Navigator being remnant when you walk up the hierarchy is very usefull indeed: If I'm in ~/a/b/c/d, I can quickly check what's in ~/a/b then go back in ~/a/b/c/d with only two click.

I think it was intended to be an option, which makes sense. An alternative would be to have double clicking (or command/option/whatever clicking) one of the path boxes truncate the path....

I've been trying the demo, and I have to say I find it very confusing that Path Finder maintains highlighting on deeper folders when I pop up to a higher level. If I clock my home folder in the shelf, for example, my green highlights in the column browser turn gray, and my home folder is green, but it doesn't scroll into view or anything.

As an option, I've wanted this for a long time. I've come to realize why it is as it is, and I think the current method should remain the default behavior because people are used to it now. Users will often jump back to a "middle level" directory that is between "where they are" and "where they were".
OTOH, having the option to instruct PF to display only the existing, active folder as the "right most" folder, is also intuitive for many people. Generally, this is how you would expect this feature to behave if you had never seen PF before.

What ever happened to this feature idea? I'd love for it to be an option to truncate the path. Or has it been added and I just haven't found it?
Thanks,
Patrick
