View Full Version : Desktop snap to grid?

I can't figure out how to get Path Finder's desktop to snap to grid without sorting. I just want things arranged in nice rows & columns. Dragging and holding the command key doesn't work like in the regular old (cough, hack!) Finder. Is this a bug, or there an option in a menu or panel somewhere I haven't found yet?

The problem seems even worse now. I can't figure out how to make any icon views non-sorting! There has to be a way.... I generally don't want icon views to be sorted, but in some folders I do want that.

Yeah, I probably won't be using PathFinder unless I can snap the desktop icons to the grid. Why can't I do this?

Go to preferences, choose "desktop" then select "keep icons arranged on desktop"

That sorts the icons on the desktop, which isn't what I want. I want them to snap into neat little rows, but in the order I choose.[/b]

I was just looking around for this functionality in PF as well, but can't find it (or can't seem to make it work). Ideally, there would be an equivalent to the Finder's "clean up" command.

It's pretty high on the todo list AFAIK. I just hope it includes making the desktop trash non-special (or better yet, making the Dock trash work so the desktop trash can be hidden..)
