After about 2 hrs of using Path Finder, it seems to give up. I can click on the items in my shelf or toolbar and they highlight, but nothing opens and I have to quit and restart. Is this a common problem? I've tried reinstalling, but nothing has worked.

That has never happened to me. What kind of background applications (or foreground apps for that matter) running when this happens?

QuarkXPress, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, ICQ, Camino, Entourage, iTunes, Suitcase X1. Those are the ones that are always on.

I'm not sure what is happening. I haven't heard of this before.

I'll need more information. Do what you can to help track it down and find more clues.

Thanks.

This may not be a PathFinder problem. I experience this periodically, and I have another friend who does not use PF; he has the same problem. Both of us upgraded to 10.3, then had these problems. There are a couple of ways around this: I have enabled Full Keyboard Access, so whenever the UI freezes up, I activate the menu bar and shut down all my apps in an orderly way, they go to Terminal and type

"sudo killall -HUP WindowServer"

That brings everything back to whatever normal is for 10.3

Recently, I have found that clicking the built-in button (I have a Pismo Powerbook) resets something in the driver software, and my mouse starts working again.

I'm running 10.2.8. It started when I upgraded to PF 3.0.1. The toolbar also loses function with all buttons dimmed until I quit and restart PF.

Have you tried repairing permissions? Are you running out of disk space, possibly?

There has to be some kind of system problem as I've never seen this in over a year of PF usage. It really does sound like something on your system isn't working properly.

I last repaired permissions after installing 10.2.8 a couple of weeks ago, but I'll give that another shot. Disk space is fine at 32.7 GB free, 768 MB RAM - 867DP G4. Path Finder seems to be the only app "acting up". I have also noticed that when I give the New Folder command, the sheet comes down, but is kind of frozen for about 10-20 seconds, during which I can't enter any text. Is this just me as well?

After repairing permissions, the oddities of the New Folder command have ceased. I can only assume that that was a major factor in the problems I've been having. I hope. Thanks for the help.
